The Quang Tri Provincial Youth Union presented a certificate of merit and the "Brave Youth" badge to Le Duc Trung, an 11th-grade student at Cua Tung High School, on 16/7.

This recognition from the Central Youth Union aims to commend and honor young individuals who demonstrate courage and selflessness in saving lives. It contributes to spreading positive values of compassion, responsibility, and the spirit of Vietnamese youth.

On 22/6, while swimming with their family at Da Nhay beach in Bac Trach commune, two children, aged 11 and 9, were swept far from shore by strong waves.

Trung was eating nearby when he heard cries for help. He spotted the two children struggling and immediately rushed into the sea. He calmly approached one child and safely brought them to shore.

At school, Trung is known as an active student. He and two classmates from Cua Tung High School recently won first prize in the Quang Tri provincial "Young Innovators" competition for their "System to support handling some emergency situations for fishing boats."
