The percentile ranks for five combinations of the 2026 high school graduation exam, announced by the Ministry of Education and Training on 1/7, include: A00 (math, physics, chemistry), A01 (math, physics, english), B00 (math, chemistry, biology), C00 (literature, history, geography), and D01 (math, literature, english).
According to the announcement, a candidate achieving 27.5 points in the A00 combination is considered equivalent to a candidate scoring 26.75 points in the A01 combination and 28.25 points in B00. This level is also equivalent to 25.75 points in C00 and D01. Any academic program that considers these combinations must ensure equal admission opportunities for all groups of candidates.
The Ministry initiated the practice of announcing percentile ranks last year, requiring universities to convert scores across different combinations and admission methods to a common scale. However, this serves only as a reference criterion for universities to develop their conversion formulas. They can also consider other factors, such as core subjects, the specific nature of the program or university, and the academic performance of previous student cohorts.
Using the percentile method, universities typically categorize candidates into top percentages based on their exam scores for each admission method or combination. This allows for equivalent score conversions. For example, universities might select the top 1% of candidates from two different exams or combinations. The scores required to achieve this top 1% status in each case would then be considered equivalent.
In the coming days, universities are expected to release their own percentile tables or score differentials between various admission combinations and methods.

Over 1.2 million candidates participated in the high school graduation exam on 11-12/6. Beyond serving as a requirement for graduation recognition, exam scores are mandatory for university admission applications.
Candidates can look up exam scores on VnExpress at https://diemthi.vnexpress.net to compare their position against other candidates in the same combination or subject, average scores across provinces and cities, or the top-scoring candidates. Additionally, students can find past admission scores and combinations for many universities on the University Search Page.
From 2/7, candidates can begin registering and adjusting their university and college admission preferences through the Ministry of Education and Training's system. This process will continue until 5 p.m. on 14/7.
University admission scores will be announced after 5 p.m. on 9/8.
