The Ministry announced the extension on Thursday, but did not provide a reason. The system opened on 25/8, approximately three days later than initially planned. The delay was attributed to an extended virtual filtering process and delays in universities uploading admitted student data to the Ministry's system.
During the enrollment confirmation period, many candidates discovered errors, with some being wrongly listed as admitted or rejected by universities such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport, Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, and Foreign Trade University.
For instance, some students who met the admission requirements for their higher preferences and received acceptance notifications from universities were subsequently marked as rejected on the Ministry's system. Conversely, some students who didn't meet the requirements for their first choice were informed of their admission and had subsequent choices locked.
The Ministry acknowledged receiving 20 to 30 complaints from students daily. The errors primarily stemmed from input data issues, including admission methods, criteria, supporting documents for preferential treatment, and language certificates. Some errors were attributed to manual processing during the selection process.
According to admission regulations, resolving these errors is the responsibility of the universities. The Ministry will provide support, guidance, and coordination with other universities if necessary.
By 26/8, the Ministry affirmed that most of the errors had been resolved according to regulations.
This year, approximately 852,000 candidates applied for university admission, submitting 7.6 million applications for over 4,000 programs at more than 400 universities and colleges.
While the Ministry's online confirmation deadline has been extended, many universities began in-person enrollment on 23/8, immediately after admission scores were released.
