More economics universities open computer science programs

Thuong Mai University (TMU) plans to launch sau new programs, including computer science, with admissions starting in 2026.

Thuong Mai University announced the information on the evening of 6/1. The computer science program, focusing on artificial intelligence applications in business, is a standard program. Students will receive a foundational business education, combined with artificial intelligence applications in data analysis and decision-making, financial investment, operations and supply chain management, product development, and technology startup.

"The program is suitable for students who enjoy technology, data, artificial intelligence, and modern business," the university stated.

TMU joins a trend of new program openings at many universities this year. Previously, many universities with a tradition of training in economics also launched technology and engineering programs.

Foreign Trade University announced on 5/1 that it will admit students to data science (data science for innovation in economics and business) and artificial intelligence (artificial intelligence for innovation in economics and business) programs starting in 2026. Prior to that, in 2024, this university had opened a computer science program, while National Economics University launched an artificial intelligence program.

TMU's nam other new programs belong to hai groups. The group of international career-oriented intensive programs (IPOP) includes: Logistics and supply chain management (logistics and multimodal transport management), digital economics (data analysis in economics and business), and tourism and travel service management (event and entertainment service management).

According to the university, this group of programs is practical, international, linked with businesses, and features many English courses.

For the international dual-degree program group, the university is launching new programs in Logistics and supply chain management - commerce and distribution, and accounting integrated with international certifications - banking, finance. Upon graduation, students will receive mot bachelor's degree awarded by Thuong Mai University and mot bachelor's degree awarded by the University of Rouen Normandie (France).

The total admission target for 2026 is 5,800, an increase of 200 compared to last year. The university has not yet announced the admission methods.

This year, Thuong Mai University has 4 new subject combinations, including: X25 (mathematics, economic and legal education, English), X26 (mathematics, informatics, English), X27 (mathematics, industrial technology, English), and X28 (mathematics, agricultural technology, English).

The 8 remaining combinations have been used in previous years: A00 (mathematics, physics, chemistry), A01 (mathematics, physics, English), D03 (mathematics, literature, French), D01 (mathematics, literature, English), D04 (mathematics, literature, Chinese), D07 (mathematics, chemistry, English), D09 (mathematics, history, English), and D10 (mathematics, geography, English).

The 2026 admission combinations for Thuong Mai University are as listed above.

In 2025, Thuong Mai University's benchmark scores ranged from 22,5 to 27,8. Specifically, the business administration (commercial French) program had the lowest benchmark score, while logistics and supply chain management was the highest. Many programs, such as digital marketing, e-commerce, and Chinese language, required over 27 points.
