The 1.5-day exam is the shortest in the past 10 years. The majority of test-takers are from the first cohort studying under the new national curriculum (2018). They are tested on two compulsory subjects and two elective subjects.
The first exam was literature, held this morning. For the first time, the exam prompts were drawn from sources outside the textbooks.
In the afternoon, students took the math exam. The exam consisted of 22 multiple-choice questions in three formats: choosing from options A, B, C, D; true/false selections; and short-answer responses. In previous years, the exam only included the multiple-choice format.
Tomorrow morning, students will take two out of nine elective subjects. Each subject will have 48 exam codes, double the number from previous years.

In addition, over 26,700 students took the exam under the old curriculum (2006). The literature exam for this group still used material from textbooks. The other three subjects are math, English, and either natural sciences or social sciences.
The Ministry of Education and Training will announce the exam results on 16/7. Students will receive their individual scores no later than 20/7. University application registration and adjustments will open from 16/7 to 28/7.
