Over 125,000 candidates await approval for priority points, foreign language certificates

More than 125,000 university applicants have not yet had their priority proofs or foreign language certificates approved for bonus points in university admissions.

The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has identified that over 125,000 university applicants are awaiting approval for their priority proofs and foreign language certificates, which are crucial for bonus points in university admissions. This issue was highlighted in an official dispatch sent to localities on 21/7.

The Ministry stated it found several data inconsistencies during a review of the national admissions system. These issues include problems with academic transcript data, registration forms, priority proofs, and foreign language certificates.

Specifically, more than 125,000 students lack approval for their priority proofs and foreign language certificates. Additionally, over 2,600 pieces of data concerning candidates' priority areas require further review. The Ministry also noted tens of thousands of cases where foreign language or second foreign language scores appear in academic transcript data but lack the corresponding subject codes.

To ensure accuracy in the admissions process, MOET has urged localities to review and update all relevant data. The deadline for completing this task is 17h on 24/7. The Ministry emphasized that these unapproved proofs and certificates will directly affect candidates' admission results.

University admissions representatives consider this a critical step. They recalled instances from last year where some institutions discovered candidates using fake foreign language certificates, which led to the annulment of their admission results.

Furthermore, MOET requested localities to update the results for candidates disciplined during the high school graduation exam or those who appealed their scores, resulting in score changes. "Ensure there are no delays or overlooked applications from candidates," the Ministry stated.

According to the admissions schedule, universities will conduct admissions and process applications from 4/8 to 9/8, involving six rounds of virtual filtering. Institutions will then review the data and announce benchmark scores after 17h on 10/8.
