79 schools in TP HCM recruit nearly 3,500 additional 10th-grade students

Students who did not pass the 10th-grade entrance exams can apply for additional enrollment at 79 public high schools, which offer nearly 3,500 places.

On 21/7, the Department of Education and Training announced an additional enrollment phase for 3,488 students across 79 high schools.

Only students who were not admitted to any of their desired programs in the first phase and whose total score from the three subjects, plus any priority or incentive points, is greater than or equal to the benchmark score for their first choice school are eligible to participate in this supplementary admission process.

Each student may apply to only one school that has not yet filled its quota. Applications must be submitted directly to the school from 22-29/7, and no changes to preferences will be permitted. Results will be announced on 3/8.

Among the schools offering additional enrollment, Phong Phu High School has the largest quota with 214 places. Nguyen Van Tang High School is also recruiting nearly 200 more students. Other schools with over 100 places include: Trung Lap, Vo Minh Duc, An Nhon Tay, Trinh Hoai Duc, An My, and Bung Rieng.

The 10th-grade entrance examination concluded on 2/6. In the first year following the administrative merger (TP HCM, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Duong), the city recorded over 151,000 candidates, the highest number nationwide. The admission rate was approximately 78%.

Approximately 80% of the 170 general high schools saw an increase in their 10th-grade benchmark scores, with some schools experiencing a twofold increase, up to 9,5 points. However, 33 schools lowered their benchmark scores.
