The high school graduation exam took place on 26-27/6 with over 1.07 million students. Math is one of two compulsory subjects for graduation. It is also included in many university entrance exam combinations like A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry), A01 (Math, Physics, English), D01 (Math, Literature, English), and others.

Following the math exam on the afternoon of 26/6, many teachers assessed that the exam closely followed the Ministry of Education and Training's sample exam and aligned with the competency assessment goals of the 2018 general education program. However, the exam was lengthy and considerably more difficult than previous years.

The exam comprised three sections: multiple choice (12 questions), true/false (4 questions), and short answer (6 questions). The exam duration was 90 minutes. Lam Vu Cong Chinh, a math teacher at Nguyen Du High School in TP HCM, noted that the difficulty increased progressively from the true/false section to the short answer section. The short answer section included two particularly challenging probability and statistics questions that left many students perplexed.

Teachers predicted the scores would cluster around 5.5-6, with scores of 8 and above being less frequent than in previous years.

In recent years, the math exam has generally been well-regarded for its differentiation, resulting in stable score distributions. Last year, the average score was 6.45. The most frequent score was 7.6, and no student achieved a perfect 10.
