The incident occurred on the afternoon of 4/2. According to security camera footage from the victim's home, Toan (name changed), 31, was upset because his daughter had been "hit in the face several times with a jump rope." Without listening to explanations from his daughter's friend, he rushed in and repeatedly hit the boy in the face and head, while yelling abuses.
The victim's grandmother tried to intervene, but Toan continued to yell, claiming his daughter had been hit two to three times over the past year. He only stopped when neighbors arrived.
On 5/2, Mao Dien ward police announced on their fanpage that they had received a complaint from the boy's grandmother. She accused Toan of intentionally causing injury, resulting in the boy's face being swollen and bruised, which required treatment at Thuan Thanh General Hospital.

Responding to VnExpress, Ms. Vu Thi Hao, principal of Mao Dien 2 Primary School, stated that the two students in the video are in 5th grade. That morning, the male student was jump-roping and fell into three other friends, including Toan's daughter. The two students then got into an altercation, and the male student used the rope to hit the other.
Ms. Hao viewed this as an impulsive conflict, with the school having no prior record of bullying between the two students. The male student involved has a unique family situation: his father passed away early, and his mother left, so he lives with his grandmother. Neither student is considered problematic, and both have good academic records.
The administration of Mao Dien 2 Primary School advises parents to communicate with homeroom teachers to find solutions for conflicts, ensuring educational and deterrent outcomes.
Mao Dien ward police are coordinating with the provincial police's professional division to verify and clarify the incident for resolution.
