On the afternoon of 6/2, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law (HCMULAW) announced its decision to establish a campus in Quang Tri.
Dr. Le Truong Son, Rector of HCMULAW, stated that this is the result of a complete handover and transfer of assets, personnel, and students from Central Law College, which was under the Ministry of Justice, to HCMULAW, which is under the Ministry of Education and Training. Hoang Xuan Tan, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, said this merger will boost the locality by improving the quality of its public officials and civil servants, and attracting investment through a robust legal environment.
The Quang Tri campus is tasked with training high-quality human resources to meet the demand for legal personnel and judicial assistants for the province and the Central - Central Highlands region. It is also envisioned as a center for policy and legal research, supporting economic and social development and international integration within the East-West Economic Corridor.
The new facility expects to enroll 400 full-time students this year and will offer second-degree programs in law and English language.
Dr. Son added that leading professors, associate professors, and doctors will be assigned to teach directly at the Quang Tri campus. Additionally, the university will invest in upgrading facilities, curricula, and teaching technology to ensure consistent quality between the main campus and the new branch.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, established in 1976, was formerly known as the Southern Cadre School of Justice. It currently educates over 11,500 students with more than 300 lecturers, primarily in the fields of law, languages, and economics.
