The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on the morning of 29/6 issued the appointment decision for Mr. Dat as rector of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine for a five-year term, effective from 1/7.
Born in 1977 in TP HCM (formerly Binh Duong), Mr. Dat became a lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2003. In 2012, he concurrently served as deputy head of the training management board for the Faculty of Medicine, becoming deputy dean in 2015.
Four years later, Mr. Dat took on the position of secretary of the university council, followed by vice rector in charge of professional affairs in August 2022. He began overseeing the university's operations in March 2023. More than one year later, Mr. Dat was appointed rector.
Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine was established in 1989, originally known as the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Training and Fostering Medical Staff, directly under the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
This is one of four universities specializing in health science training in the Southern region. The university has approximately 20,000 students and learners, supported by over 500 full-time lecturers.
