The Ministry of Education and Training sent universities a correlation table on 6/7, comparing national high school graduation exam scores with average high school subject scores.
Across all 12 subjects, the average three-year high school transcript scores were consistently higher than the national high school graduation exam scores. Literature, the only essay-based subject, showed the smallest difference at 0,83 points.
The largest differences were observed in Economics and Law Education, Geography, and English, with discrepancies of 2,2, 2,62, and 3,04 points, respectively. The difference for Economics and Law Education and Geography increased significantly, partly because this year's national high school graduation exam papers for these subjects were considered more challenging than the previous year, causing student average scores to drop most sharply.
This marks the second time the Ministry has released the score differences between student transcript results and national high school graduation exam scores. According to the Ministry, if universities use transcripts for admissions, they must refer to these figures to convert them into equivalent admission scores.
National high school graduation exam scores and transcript scores are the two primary methods for university admissions. In 2025, for example, 50,32% of students gained university admission through national high school graduation exam scores, while 29,24% were admitted using their transcripts.
Since last year, the Ministry has required universities to convert scores between different admission methods and subject combinations. This ensures fairness when evaluating applications to the same major or program within the same university using multiple criteria.
On 1/7, the Ministry released the percentiles for five popular university admission combinations. This allows students and universities to understand the score differences between these combinations. For instance, 27,5 points in combination A00 are equivalent to 25,75 points in combinations C00 and D01 (refer to the percentile table for combinations).
The correlation table between national high school graduation exam scores and average high school subject scores for 2026 is as follows:
