On the morning of 24/8, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law (ULAW) held a graduation ceremony for nearly 1,600 students. Of these, 44 graduated with honors, accounting for 2.76%.
Nearly 28.67% of students received merit-based diplomas, an increase of more than 10% compared to last year. 1,047 students (nearly 65.7%) received satisfactory diplomas, with the remainder receiving average diplomas.
This year's valedictorian is Cao Duc Anh, a law student in the high-quality English-enhanced program, with a GPA of 3.9/4. This is the highest achievement in ULAW's more than 40-year history. Duc Anh received a full scholarship for the doctoral program at the university, along with an invitation to stay on as a lecturer under the university's young talent recruitment policy.
Doctor Le Truong Son, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, recognized this achievement as the culmination of the ability, will, and perseverance of all students. He thanked the faculty for their guidance and support, which contributed to the students' success.
"More than just these numbers, it's the creativity and courage that the students have demonstrated throughout their studies," he said.
The percentage of excellent graduates at Ho Chi Minh City University of Law is relatively low compared to universities in economics, but higher than those in medicine and pharmacy.
At the National Economics University, this percentage is around 50%. The Foreign Trade University also has more than 30% excellent graduates. In the engineering field, the Construction University and Hanoi University of Science and Technology had a rate of about 5% last year.
In the health sciences, the number of excellent graduates at many universities is even lower. Less than 1% of the total number of students achieve this distinction, as seen at Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy (0.18%), and Hanoi National University of Medicine and Pharmacy (0.4%).
