According to the Ministry of Education and Training's plan, applicants can register and adjust their university applications until 5 PM on 28/7.
Tuition fees for over 100 universities in 2025
Pham Thanh Ha, Deputy Head of the Training Management Department at the Foreign Trade University, suggests applicants divide their applications into three groups of 3-4 choices each.
The top priority group is for preferred programs, even if previous years' benchmarks were 2-3 points higher. The next group is for programs with similar or 1 point higher benchmarks. The final "safety" group includes programs with entry requirements 1-3 points lower than the applicant's score.
"This strategy can help increase your chances of admission," Ha said, noting that the system doesn't limit the number of applications, and applicants shouldn't submit too few (less than 5).

Nguyen Trung Nhan, Head of the Training Department at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, added that the Ministry's system automatically selects the method with the applicant's best score. Applicants are admitted if their score meets or exceeds the program's benchmark. If not, the system automatically considers the next application, stopping when the applicant is admitted.
For example, an applicant with a score of 24, failing the thu nhat and thu hai choices with benchmarks of 25 and 24.5 respectively, is admitted to the 3rd choice with a benchmark of 24. Subsequent applications are then void.
"Since programs often have similar benchmarks, applicants should prioritize their preferred programs to avoid realizing later they prefer a lower-ranked choice," Nhan said. This is why he advises against applying to only one university, regardless of the program, just because they like the institution.
Cu Xuan Tien, Head of Admissions and Student Affairs at the University of Economics and Law, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, reminds applicants to pay attention to technical details to avoid unfortunate errors, such as registering applications on the Ministry's system and paying fees in full; declaring and updating admission evidence as required by the university.
Additionally, applicants should consider tuition fees, travel distance, and health-related factors when applying to avoid being admitted but unable to attend.
For further guidance, applicants can visit VnExpress's University Search page for admission information such as combinations, tuition fees, and benchmark fluctuations by program and university. The system also suggests programs and universities with benchmarks close to the applicant's score for each combination.
The online application fee payment period is from 29/7 to 5 PM on 5/8. Universities will announce benchmarks before 5 PM on 22/8.
