Top 10 provinces with highest average scores in literature exam

Nghe An boasts the only average literature score above 8 in the high school graduation exam, a point higher than the national average; followed by Ha Tinh and Hanoi.

The Ministry of Education and Training released the score distribution for the 2025 high school graduation exams, along with statistics on the 10 provinces with the highest average scores, on the afternoon of 15/7.

This year, over 1.12 million students took the mandatory math and literature exams. The national average score was 7, with no student achieving a perfect 10.

The Ministry analyzed the scores of students across 34 newly established provinces and cities. With over 39,000 test-takers, Nghe An had the highest average literature score in the country at 8. Following closely behind were Ha Tinh with an average of 7.9 and Hanoi with 7.63, then Thanh Hoa with 7.61.

The remaining provinces in the top 10 include Can Tho, Phu Tho, Hue, Quang Ninh, An Giang, and Ho Chi Minh City. The average scores in these locations were all 7 or above.

Last year, the average literature scores for the top 10 provinces ranged from 7.8 to 8.1.

The high school graduation exam took place on 26-27/6 with over 1.16 million participants. Nearly 1.14 million students were tested under the new national curriculum (2018) and over 26,700 under the old curriculum (2006).

Students following the new curriculum took mandatory exams in literature and math, along with two elective subjects chosen from: chemistry, physics, biology, history, geography, economics and law, computer science, agricultural technology, industrial technology, and foreign languages (7 languages). Students can check their 2025 high school graduation exam scores at: https://diemthi.vnexpress.net.

After receiving their scores, students have 10 days to submit a request for re-marking if desired, with the deadline being 25/7. Students will receive their official score reports, provisional graduation certificates, and high school transcripts no later than 22/7.

The registration period for university admissions, including adjustments and additions, is from 16/7 to 5 PM on 28/7, with no limit on the number of adjustments. The online payment for application fees is open from 29/7 to 5 PM on 5/8.

Before applying, students can visit the VnExpress University Search page to review the fluctuation of admission scores over the years by major and university, as well as tuition fees. The system also suggests majors and universities from last year with admission scores close to the student's current score based on their subject combinations.

University admission scores for 2025 will be announced before 5 PM on 22/8.
