The Tuyen Quang Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department announced this morning, 9/7, that a press conference will be held at 15h30. The conference aims to provide information regarding the province's 2026 high school graduation exam, the investigation and verification results, and the handling by competent authorities. It will also address media concerns.
This announcement follows an incident that drew national attention after the Ministry of Education and Training released high school graduation exam scores on 1/7. Results from students at Tuyen Quang specialized high school sparked controversy due to their unusually high mathematics scores.
Specifically, over 290 out of 328 candidates, with exam ID numbers ranging from 080163xx to 080166xx, scored 9 points or higher in mathematics. More than 140 of these students achieved perfect scores. The average mathematics score for this group was 9,58, the highest in the country.

On the evening of 5/7, the Ministry of Education and Training reported initial findings from a task force led by Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong. The task force found no irregularities in the printing, transportation, storage, or grading of exam papers. However, it concluded that the mathematics exam results were abnormal and indicated a need for further verification, particularly concerning invigilation practices at the school.
The incident prompted a response from Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau, who stated on 7/7 that the situation in Tuyen Quang seriously affected graduation exam results. He instructed the province to implement a resolution plan by 10/7, emphasizing adherence to legal principles and educational humanism.
The investigation escalated on 8/7 when Nguyen Ha Duy, 28, a teacher at Tuyen Quang specialized high school, was prosecuted by the Tuyen Quang Provincial Police Investigation Agency. Duy faces charges of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties" following three days of emergency detention in connection with the graduation exam results at the school.
