Nguyen Thanh Binh, born in 2006, a former student of Nguyen Du High School for the Gifted in Dak Lak province, emerged as the national top scorer for the C00 subject block. He achieved 9,25 in Literature, 9,5 in History, and a perfect 10 in Geography, totaling 28,75 out of 30 points.
This year, over 443,000 candidates nationwide took the Geography exam, yet only 56 achieved perfect 10 scores, a significant decrease from last year's 6,900. Following Binh were 8 second-place scorers, each achieving 28,5 points.
Pham Duc Minh, born in 2007, a former student of Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted in Hanoi, was the top scorer in the D07 combination. Minh achieved a perfect 10 in Math, 9,75 in Chemistry, and 9,75 in English, totaling 29,5 out of 30 points. Three second-place scorers trailed Minh by 0,5 points.
Both candidates are independent candidates who registered to take the exam in Hanoi.
The top 500 candidates with the highest scores in the A00-B00-C00-A01-D01 combinations were also announced.
The 2026 national high school graduation examination took place on 11-12/6, drawing over 1,2 million candidates, a record high. Among them, over 63,800 independent candidates registered for this year's exam, marking the highest level since 2020.
After receiving their scores, candidates have 5 days to request a review if needed, with the deadline on 5/7. Starting 2/7, candidates can begin registering and adjusting their university and college admission preferences through the Ministry's system, a process that extends until 5 p.m. on 14/7.
Before registering preferences, candidates can visit VnExpress's University Lookup page to view historical admission score trends by major, university, or tuition fees. Last year's admission scores approached the level candidates achieved in each subject combination.
University admission scores and candidate pass-fail results will be announced after 5 p.m. on 9/8.
