Around 12,150 students across all programs at Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking received the funds via bank transfer on the afternoon of 29/8. The total amount disbursed was over 1.2 billion VND.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duc Trung, the university's president, said this initiative aimed to echo the call for sharing and spreading joy on the occasion of the country's 80th National Day.
"While 100,000 VND isn't a substantial amount, it adds to the students' joy during this grand celebration and before the new academic year," Trung said.
Thai Binh Duong University also gifted the same amount to over 2,200 of its students. According to President Dao Van Dong, the total expenditure of 220 million VND was drawn from the university's budget.
These funds will be transferred to students' bank accounts from now until 5/9, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the Ministry of National Education (now the Ministry of Education and Training) and the opening ceremony of the 2025–2026 academic year.
Dong stated that while the amount "isn't large," it demonstrates care and encouragement for student life, creating a positive atmosphere before the new academic year.
Le Duy Anh, a freshman in multimedia communications, expressed happiness and warmth upon receiving this "special" welcome gift.
"I'll use this money to buy textbooks and contribute some to a class gathering for the opening ceremony," Anh shared.
