University of Finance - Marketing apologizes to 75 wrongly rejected applicants

75 applicants whose admission status was incorrectly reversed received an apology from the University of Finance - Marketing. The university corrected the results and requested other institutions to consider these students in subsequent application rounds.

Dr. Le Trung Dao, vice president of the University of Finance - Marketing (UFM), announced on the evening of 29/8 that after releasing the admission scores, the university discovered errors in the academic transcript evaluation process.

According to Dao, the error occurred during the conversion of English proficiency certificates into scores for the relevant subject combinations. The scores of 75 applicants were calculated incorrectly, resulting in their acceptance being reversed.

UFM reported the issue to the Ministry of Education and Training to update the list of applicants in the general system and asked other universities to consider the 42 wrongly rejected applicants in their next admission rounds.

The university contacted the remaining 33 applicants to inform them of their acceptance. Dao noted that some of these applicants had chosen not to enroll at UFM, opting instead to attend the institutions that initially accepted them.

"We sincerely apologize to the affected applicants and thank other universities for their support. The rights of applicants will be respected and fully guaranteed. The university will improve its procedures to ensure accuracy, fairness, and objectivity in the future," Dao said.

This year's university admissions process has seen a series of errors. Many applicants experienced reversed admission decisions at several universities, including Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport, Ho Chi Minh City Banking University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, Foreign Trade University, and University of Finance - Marketing.

On the afternoon of 26/8, the Ministry stated it received approximately 20 to 30 inquiries daily. The errors primarily stemmed from input data (application methods, admission criteria, applicants' supporting documents for priority consideration, and English language certificates).

"To date, most of the errors have been resolved according to regulations," the Ministry reported. "All eligible applicants will certainly be notified of their acceptance in a timely manner to enroll on time."
