Van Lang University (VLU) announced its admission plans on 3/1 for the upcoming academic year. The university will recruit for 64 standard programs and 16 special training programs.
This year marks the introduction of a new admission method: competency profile assessment. This novel approach combines academic transcript scores, a personal assessment tailored to the chosen major, and foreign language proficiency. These components are weighted 60-30-10 respectively. According to the university, this personal assessment is built upon independent, internationally validated surveys. Its purpose is to help candidates identify their strengths, weaknesses, and overall suitability for a particular major, thereby reducing the likelihood of making an unsuitable choice.
In total, candidates can apply to VLU using six distinct admission methods. These include: scores from the 2026 high school graduation exam, academic transcripts, competency assessment scores (V-SAT and V-ACT), combined talent exams (for specific talent-based majors), direct admission, and the newly introduced competency profile assessment.
Prospective students can register and complete the personal assessment online. The application period is expected to commence from 5/1.
Last year, Van Lang University admitted approximately 10,000 students. The cut-off scores for admission ranged from 15-20,5/30 based on high school graduation exam results, or 18-23 using academic transcript scores.
