What to do after receiving the 2025 high school graduation exam results?

Students with questions about their exam results can submit an appeal by 25/7 and register for university admissions from 16/7 to 28/7.

On the morning of 16/7, the Ministry of Education and Training released the 2025 high school graduation exam results for over 1 million students.

Students who have concerns about their results can submit an appeal from 16/7 to 25/7. The appeal results will be available by 9/8.

For the appeals process, literature, the only essay-based exam, will be re-graded by two examiners in two independent rounds. If the two examiners give the same score, that will be the student's final score.

If the two scores differ, a third examiner will grade the exam. The final score will be the score given by two out of three examiners. If all three scores are different, the average of the three scores will be used.

If the appealed score differs from the original score by 0.25 or more, the student's score will be adjusted.

For multiple-choice exams, the exam board will compare the student's answers on the answer sheet with the scanned images. If there is a discrepancy, the board will determine the cause, print the results before and after correcting the error, and keep them on file.

Students will be considered to have graduated from high school if they take all required exams and do not fail any subject (a score of 1 or below). The graduation score is calculated based on 50% exam scores, 50% average scores from grades 10, 11, and 12, plus any bonus points.

The formula is as follows:

The average score for each academic year is calculated as follows:

Bonus points from 0.25 to 0.5 are awarded to children of wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, heroes of the people's armed forces, labor heroes, ethnic minorities, and victims of Agent Orange. Students meeting multiple criteria receive the highest bonus, not the sum of all bonuses.

Students can receive 1 to 2 additional bonus points for winning prizes in provincial-level or higher academic competitions, experiments, arts, sports, and science and technology competitions. Similar to preferential points, students only receive the bonus points for the highest award, even if they have won multiple awards.

Students with a final graduation score of 5 or higher are considered to have graduated from high school.

Important dates for high school graduation and university admissions in 2025:

Students applying to universities can register their preferences on the Ministry's system from 16/7 to 28/7 at 5 PM. They can adjust and add preferences an unlimited number of times during this period.

After the deadline, students must pay the application fee online from 29/7 to 5/8 at 5 PM. The Ministry and universities will then process applications (virtual filtering) from 16/8 to 20/8 at 5 PM.

Admitted students must confirm their enrollment on the system by 5:30 PM on 30/8. The Ministry has requested universities not to begin enrollment before 22/8. Additional admission rounds will take place from 1/9 to the end of the year.

The high school graduation exam took place on 26-27/6 with over 1.16 million students participating. Nearly 1.14 million students took the exam under the new (2018) general education program, and over 26,700 followed the old (2006) program.

Students under the new program took two compulsory subjects: literature and math, and two elective subjects: chemistry, physics, biology, history, geography, economics and law, informatics, technology (agriculture, industry), or foreign language (7 languages).

Students under the old program took literature, math, a foreign language, and a choice of natural sciences (chemistry, physics, biology) or social sciences (history, geography, civic education).

Last year, about 733,600 students used their exam results for university admissions.
