Ngon Thua Huc, the acclaimed actor from the hit series "Meteor Garden", paid an emotional tribute to his late co-star Tu Hy Vien during a concert in Shanghai, China on the evening of December 19. The tribute saw Thua Huc holding a necklace, symbolic of the one his character Dao Minh Tu gave Sam Thai (played by Hy Vien) in the drama, and hanging it on a telescope. He then clasped his hands, remembering his cherished colleague.
This poignant act at the live show mirrored a key scene from "Meteor Garden", where Dao Minh Tu and Sam Thai confirmed their love. In that memorable moment, Dao Minh Tu presented Sam Thai with the necklace as a token of affection, and they shared a tender moment gazing at the starry sky through a telescope.
The tribute deeply moved fans, who took to Weibo to express their emotions. Many found the performance nostalgic and touching. Comments included: "We hope you live well for her, for the beautiful things of youth", "Tu Hy Vien has become a meteor", and "I think Hy Vien watched this live show and is smiling".
"Meteor Garden" became a cultural phenomenon in the 2000s. The series followed Sam Thai, a principled girl from a humble background whose parents saved diligently for her to attend a prestigious school. On her first day, Sam Thai clashed with the elite male students of the F4 group, notably Dao Minh Tu. This initial confrontation quickly established her as an "arch-nemesis" to the four young men, setting the stage for their intertwined destinies.

Despite initial conflicts during filming, Ngon Thua Huc and Tu Hy Vien developed a deep understanding and acceptance of each other's personalities, eventually becoming close friends. In 2021, when Thua Huc participated in the reality show "Call Me By Fire", Hy Vien recorded a heartfelt video message of encouragement. She said: "Dao Minh Tu, I am your Sam Thai. When we filmed, we would get upset at the slightest thing. Back then, I thought you were really strange, mysteriously childish. Now, you've become an older brother, increasingly cheerful and charming. Sam Thai is always here to cheer you on".
Upon learning of Tu Hy Vien's sudden passing, Ngon Thua Huc shared a moving statement: "Thank you for meeting you in those years when you were carefree like a child. You often said to live each day as if it were your last, to live to the fullest. I hope you find peace in the next world, free from worries, with tranquil days".
Thua Huc, 48, primarily appears in television programs. He maintains a discreet private life, not publicly dating since his breakup with model Lam Chi Linh in 2005.
Tu Hy Vien passed away suddenly on 2/2 while traveling in Japan with her mother, sister, husband, and children. Her family laid her to rest on 15/3. The beloved star left behind assets exceeding one billion New Taiwan dollars (over 30 million USD).
According to Next Apple, Tu Hy Vien and her husband, Korean music artist DJ Koo, did not sign a prenuptial agreement. DJ Koo announced he would relinquish all his inheritance rights to his mother-in-law. Since Tu Hy Vien's death, DJ Koo visits his wife's grave daily. He brings a small chair, sits, and tells Hy Vien about everyday life or watches videos of her.
