Indian actress Nidhhi Agerwal was reportedly mobbed by hundreds of male fans at a promotional event in Hyderabad on 18/12, leading to accusations of molestation and a police investigation. According to The Hindu, the incident occurred at LuLu Mall during the launch of a song from her upcoming film, Raja Saab. As Agerwal concluded her appearance and attempted to leave the stage, the large crowd surrounded her, blocking the exits.
The situation quickly spiraled out of control as the crowd surged forward, pushing and jostling to get closer to the actress. Videos from the mall quickly spread across social media, with thousands of viewers alleging that Agerwal had been molested. Footage showed her covering her face in distress after she eventually managed to escape the throng and enter a vehicle.
The widely circulated videos sparked public outrage, with many criticizing the event organizers for their negligence and failure to ensure adequate safety measures for both the actress and attendees.
On 19/12, Hyderabad police in Telangana state interrogated two managers from LuLu Mall and a representative of the organizing committee. The questioning centered on the event being held without a necessary permit, along with significant deficiencies in crowd control and public security. Police sources indicated that Nidhhi Agerwal was hesitant to file a formal complaint following the harassment.
