"I don't promise anything grand," said Ms. Trinh Thuy Mui. "I will use my abilities to voice voters' and artists' opinions in the National Assembly, reflecting the people's aspirations and the artistic community's concerns." She also pledged to help develop policies for culture, art, and society's spiritual life.
The National Election Council announced the list of candidates for the 16th National Assembly on 27/2. Ms. Trinh Thi Mui, known by her stage name Trinh Thuy Mui, President of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, is among the 36 candidates from the Vietnam Fatherland Front bloc.
She will run in Dong Thap province, electoral unit 1, which includes Thuong Lac, Hong Ngu, and An Binh wards, along with Thuong Phuoc, Tan Hong, Tan Thanh, Tan Ho Co, An Phuoc, Tam Nong, Long Khanh, Long Phu Thuan, An Hoa, An Long, Tan Long, Phu Tho, Tan Thanh, and Thanh Binh communes.

Her nomination for the 16th National Assembly was unanimously approved by delegates at the 5th National Committee Conference of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, 10th term (2020-2025), held on 14/1 in Hanoi. The President of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association described this as a personal honor and a sense of responsibility to voters, artists, and the development of national literature and art.
Born in Ninh Binh, Trinh Thuy Mui began her career as an actress at the Hanoi Cheo Theater in 1981. She advanced through various roles, including Deputy Head, Deputy Director, and Director. From 2017 to 2020, she served as a Standing Committee Member of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association and Director of the Center for Preservation and Development of Vietnamese Stage Arts. Since 2020, she has been a Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, Party Secretary of the agency's cell, and President of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association.
Her career achievements include 7 gold medals at the National Cheo Festival, three national silver medals, and commendation certificates from the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. In 2015, she was honored with the title People's Artist.
