The opening ceremony, themed "The pulse of knowledge – From printed pages to digital space", will take place on 18/4 at the National Library of Vietnam. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism directs this event, and the National Library of Vietnam implements it in coordination with the Department of Grassroots Culture, Family and Library. According to the organizing committee, the event honors traditional knowledge values and marks a shift in reading methods and knowledge access in the digital era.
The opening ceremony will include various activities. These include a forum titled "What young people read in the digital age", discussing new reading trends, book selection, and knowledge sources in an increasingly diverse information landscape. Additionally, the "From printed pages to digital space" exhibition will showcase typical publications and resources, illustrating the evolution of knowledge. It aims to honor the value of books and reading culture, fostering a spirit of learning and encouraging proactive knowledge access.

Many publishers, including National Political Truth Publishing House, The Gioi Publishers, and Kim Dong Publishing House, will host exchanges. Authors will share their creative inspiration, messages, and the depth of their works, spreading academic value and reading culture within the community.
Furthermore, the National Library of Vietnam will host an English storytelling competition titled "Onward – More than a story from a book", a digital product creation contest "AI Storytelling", a book cover design competition "Colors of Technology and Life", and a community book station model design contest. Other activities include a book exchange station "Each book – A new journey", book stalls, and Flashmob Read 2026.
In response to the 5th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (21/4), numerous activities have been held nationwide since the beginning of the month. On the morning of 16/4, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports inaugurated the festival with the theme "Digital knowledge – Connecting the future" at Hanoi Book Street. In addition to exhibiting publications, the event includes author exchanges, book introductions from publishers, and award ceremonies for "Artistic Book Stacking" and "Drawing Based on Books" competitions.

From 18/4 to 25/4, Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in TP HCM will take place with the theme "Knowledge changes lives". The main activities will be held at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, featuring an exhibition space on President Ho Chi Minh and reading culture, as well as display areas for audiobooks and Braille books for the visually impaired.
The Ho Chi Minh City General Science Library will organize interactive activities such as: illustrated children's storytelling, creative workshops (making bookmarks, mini-books, character decoration), and workshops on applying AI to access materials for the visually impaired.
On 14/4, the Quang Tri Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism inaugurated an event and launched the "Reading Culture Ambassador" competition, aiming to spread reading habits within the community. On the morning of 17/4, the opening program in Bac Ninh City kicked off a series of activities in response to Book Day. In addition to author-work exchanges and specialized forums, various playgrounds have been prepared to attract students, such as a drawing competition, an artistic book model stacking competition "Our Uncle Ho", and the "Reading Family – Connecting Love" competition.
Vietnam Book Day was first organized in 2014. Three years later, the government renamed it "Book and Reading Culture Day" to spread reading habits in society. In 2022, the event was held nationwide after a two-year delay due to the pandemic.
