After each harvest, he shares his produce with neighbors and colleagues. The artist mentioned once harvesting 20 kilograms of tomatoes, which everyone praised. "I have a green thumb, so everything I plant thrives", he said.
Nguyen Trung Dan grew up in rural Hoc Mon, developing a deep connection to farming and becoming skilled in cultivation. He employs many traditional gardening techniques. The artist utilizes spoiled vegetables and fruit peels, such as pineapple and banana, to create compost. Instead of chemical pesticides, he sprays a mixture of crushed chili and garlic water on plants to deter destructive insects. While his wife, children, and grandchildren occasionally help with watering when he is filming outside the city, he primarily manages the garden himself.
