In early june, the artist posted these verses for his son, attracting much interaction. He wrote: "He and I, just a few years apart / A long journey, we've traveled together / To mature, one must strive through thick and thin / I told him, the harder the fall, the deeper the lesson".
The artist recalled that in 1991, at 26 years old, he had his first lead role in the feature film “Legend of the Water God's Love” by director Ha Son. 35 years later, at 26, his son also took on his first lead role in a television series. Writing about the two of them, he playfully referred to them as "just a few years apart", implying they are like friends offering each other advice.
Hoai Vu is currently praised for his role as Cuong, a mischievous yet upright and chivalrous student, in the series “Beyond the City”. This marks his first lead role in a television drama. Many viewers have noted his natural performance and excellent delivery.
Despite the positive public reaction, artist Vo Hoai Nam is happy but acknowledges that his son has a long journey ahead. "I always advise my son to be careful with fame; everything has two sides", he said.

Vo Hoai Vu, 26 years old, is the eldest son of Vo Hoai Nam and former dancer Lan Anh. From a young age, he often watched the "Criminal Police" series in which his father starred, gradually developing a love for acting. At times, Hoai Vu would stand in front of a mirror, posing and practicing expressions. When Hoai Vu was in high school, his father did not support his pursuit of an acting career. It was only after his first year at Hanoi University of Theater and Cinema that his father began to follow and encourage him.
Following in his father's footsteps, Vo Hoai Vu admits he once felt pressure. After graduating, he was eager to move south, applying for internships at many drama theaters but without success. At that time, actor Vo Hoai Nam advised his son to take things slowly for a long-term, stable career. Hoai Vu reflected on his father's words, then diligently trained in theater, performing in many plays for artist Tran Luc's experimental theater.
In 2024, he gained attention for his portrayal of Quang, a rebellious and stubborn character in director Do Thanh Son's film “Walking in the Dazzling Sky”. Initially, the actor was worried and unsure if he could complete the role. Nearing the filming date, despite his lingering fear, he decided to face it and relax. He remembered his father's advice that whether on stage or television, an actor needs to relieve tension to portray a role as naturally as possible, avoiding stiffness.
For Hoai Vu, art is a path he wishes to devote his life to. He yearns to challenge himself in theater, cinema, and television, aspiring to become a versatile actor.

In addition to his son, Vo Hoai Nam's daughter, Vo Hoai Anh, also starred in the film “Milk Flowers Return in the Wind” by director Bui Tien Huy. The artist observes that both children have started their careers quite well, but need to cultivate life experience and learn from predecessors. During their work, he advises his children to respect colleagues and the crew, value the script and director, never be late or leave early, and internalize lines for performance.
Addressing some opinions that Vo Hoai Nam's children should receive preferential treatment, he asserts that directors would not choose unsuitable actors, as it would affect the work. "The public might be stricter with artists' children, but don't think they are supported because of connections", Vo Hoai Nam said.
