Second runner-up Miss National Vietnam 2024 Nguyen Thi Cam Ly showcased Nguyen Nhut Duy's "Tinh Hoa Dau Bac" (Essence of Silver Beading). The designer drew inspiration from the Dinh Cong silver beading village, a place preserving the art of intricate handcrafted silver. The outfit combined the image of two dragons flanking the sun, a symbol of power, nobility, sanctity, and strength.

First runner-up Miss Grand Vietnam 2024 Le Phan Hanh Nguyen wore Huy Nguyen's "Cu Giai Dang Nguyen," inspired by the craft of making cellophane lanterns. The outfit recreated the image of a crab, where the crab's shell, known as "giap," is a homophone for the word in the phrase "Giap bang de danh" (passing the imperial examination), symbolizing academic success.

Actress Phuong Anh Dao is one of 37 ao dai ambassadors.
Under the theme "Golden Silk Threads - Weaving Aspirations," the elaborate stage combined traditional art with 3D mapping technology. A "silk cocoon transforming into a butterfly" model symbolized convergence, transformation, and breakthroughs in the new era. The opening ceremony brought together 37 designers from three regions, nearly 400 ao dai designs, and 600 performers and models.

The event, hosted by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism and the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Union, marks several milestones this year: the 50th anniversary of Saigon - Gia Dinh being named Ho Chi Minh City, 1,986 years since the Hai Ba Trung uprising, and the 116th International Women's Day on 8/3. On the morning of 8/3, a folk dance performance and ao dai parade are expected to attract approximately 50,000 people at various locations across the city.
