Beckham family wishes eldest son happy birthday amid controversy

David and Victoria Beckham and two of their sons posted childhood photos with Brooklyn on his birthday amidst ongoing family discord.

On March 4, David and Victoria Beckham publicly wished their eldest son, Brooklyn, a happy 27th birthday on Instagram, sharing nostalgic childhood photos. Both parents expressed deep affection for Brooklyn, stating their love for him.

David Beckham's post notably referred to Brooklyn as "Bust", which CNN reports is a shortened form of "Buster". Eleven years ago, the former football legend revealed a tattoo of this nickname on his neck, sharing he had called his son "Brooklyn Buster" since birth.

Brooklyn's younger brothers, Romeo, 24, and Cruz, 21, also joined in the birthday tributes. They each shared childhood photos with their older brother, using their posts to convey their affection.

These public birthday messages have drawn considerable attention due to Brooklyn's well-documented conflict with his family. In January, he openly criticized his parents on his personal page, accusing David and Victoria of "trying to control his life", "spreading numerous falsehoods to the media", and "sabotaging his and his wife's relationship". Brooklyn declared he had no desire to reconcile, seeking only peace with his wife, actress Nicola Peltz, 31, in Los Angeles.

Prior to these accusations, reports suggested Brooklyn had instructed his parents to communicate with him solely through lawyers. According to the *Daily Mail*, he did not wish for them to contact him or mention him on social media. Further evidence of the rift emerged in early February when media outlets observed Brooklyn had removed tattoos related to his family and siblings.

These images were individually chosen by David Beckham and his wife to post with their son on Instagram.

While the Beckham family has refrained from commenting on the controversy, *Page Six* reported that Brooklyn's younger siblings appear to be making efforts toward reconciliation. In February, Cruz posted a childhood photo of the three brothers. For Valentine's Day, their youngest sister Harper shared an old photo with her brothers, captioned: "I love everyone, this affection cannot be expressed in words". She posted it privately on Instagram, with her mother and Romeo later resharing it.

Rumors of a family rift first emerged in April 2025, when international media noted Brooklyn and his wife were no longer appearing alongside David and Victoria. The entire family was last seen together at Christmas 2024. Before this strained period, the family frequently shared happy photos and videos of their time together on social media.
