Britney Spears, 45 years old, was sentenced to 12 months probation and one day in jail, credited for time served, at the Ventura Superior Court in California on 4/5. The pop superstar did not attend the hearing, with her attorney Michael A. Goldstein representing her. Through her representative, she pleaded guilty to "unsafe driving (wet reckless)". According to the Legal Information Institute, this term refers to a plea agreement that allows those accused of driving under the influence (DUI) to have their charges reduced to a lesser offense.
As part of her sentence, Spears must consent to police searches and tests for alcohol or controlled substances if stopped by law enforcement. Her attorney requested that this clause not apply to her private residence. She also faces a 571 USD fine (over 15 million dong) and must complete a three-month rehabilitation program, totaling 30 hours of class. The artist also agreed to meet with a psychologist once a week and a psychiatrist twice a month.

Following the court session, attorney Goldstein stated: "Through today's plea, Britney Spears is taking responsibility for her actions. She has taken important steps to make positive changes. This is reflected in the Ventura County District Attorney's decision to reduce the charges, dropping the DUI accusation." Erik Nasarenko, the local prosecutor, added that Spears admitted wrongdoing early in the investigation and agreed to continue mental health and addiction treatment. "We do not want Ms. Spears to re-offend," Nasarenko said outside the courthouse.
On 30/4, the Ventura County District Attorney's office announced that Spears was charged with driving under the influence of a stimulant at a misdemeanor level. At that time, officials indicated the singer might be offered a plea for "unsafe driving" because she had no prior DUI convictions, did not cause injury in an accident, and had a low blood alcohol content when arrested.
The artist was arrested on the evening of 4/3 in California on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, but was released the following morning. In a statement to the media, her representative called it "an unfortunate, indefensible incident."

Last April, Britney Spears voluntarily entered a rehabilitation center. Sources close to People revealed that her two sons, Sean, 21 years old, and Jayden, 20 years old, played a significant role in her entering the treatment facility. Both are her children with ex-husband, former dancer Kevin Federline.
Born in 1981, Britney Spears gained fame through hits like "Baby One More Time", "Oops!... I Did It Again", and "Toxic". Throughout her career, the singer released nine studio albums, earning one Grammy award and eight Billboard awards. From 2022 to the present, Spears has released two singles: "Hold Me Closer", a collaboration with Elton John, and "Mind Your Business", featuring will.i.am. In 2023, she published her memoir, "The Woman in Me", detailing how her father used his conservatorship to control her life, from her diet and work to her children.
The singer has had three marriages. Her most recent was to fitness trainer Sam Asghari, 13 years her junior. Britney Spears finalized her divorce from Sam Asghari in early May 2024. Before that, she married childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander and dancer Kevin Federline. In 2023, she had a publicized relationship with her former housekeeper Paul Richard Soliz, reportedly ending in May 2025.
