Huong Tram held a showcase to introduce her new album on the afternoon of 1/12. Towards the end of the program, as she performed a medley of hits, Bui Anh Tuan made a surprise appearance. They sang "Em gai mua" together with a new arrangement, receiving applause from 500 guests and attendees at the event.
The singer stated her desire to surprise everyone and demonstrate their strong collegial bond. She had been absent from showbiz for five years, studying and living in the US, before returning to Vietnam to resume activities in early 2024. Over recent years, Bui Anh Tuan also rarely appeared at entertainment industry events and released fewer products. For this occasion, Huong Tram invited Bui Anh Tuan to share the stage, sending a message to the audience: "We are back."
Bui Anh Tuan expressed his happiness at reuniting with Huong Tram after many years, noting that she has become more beautiful and sings better. "I want to learn from her positive energy," he said.
In 2012, during the blind auditions of the first season of The Voice of Vietnam, both became music sensations. Huong Tram, mentored by coach Thu Minh, won the competition, while Bui Anh Tuan was a student of Ho Ngoc Ha. After the competition, they quickly established themselves with many hit songs and once performed "Chia tay trong mua" as a duet. While their careers were developing, they each chose different paths, leading to fewer joint stage appearances.
Huong Tram, 30, from Nghe An, is the daughter of artist Tien Dung and sister of singer Pham Tien Manh. In 2019, she successfully organized her first live show, "Hop Thu So 1", in Hanoi, then unexpectedly announced a hiatus from singing to study in the US. In 2021, she adopted the stage name Charmy Pham, performing on overseas stages and experimenting with genres she had not explored before, such as Latin. In 11/2023, she released the music video "LaLaLa" and an EP of the same name.
Bui Anh Tuan, 34, previously won fourth prize in the weekly singing competition of Voice of the People of Ho Chi Minh City Radio (VOH) and an encouragement award at Tieng ca hoc duong 2010. At 20, he won first prize in Ngoi sao tieng hat truyen hinh. During the blind auditions of The Voice of Vietnam 2012, he created a sensation with his performance of "Noi tinh yeu bat dau" (Tien Minh).
