The song is gaining attention following discussions about the lyric "lua chin cao nhung chang he cui dau" (ripe rice stands tall but never bows). Composed by Chau Dang Khoa and released on 24/4, the piece draws inspiration from traditional music, blending Northern `a dao` (a traditional Vietnamese singing genre) and Southern folk songs. The original lyrics drew from the idiom "Song sau tinh lang, lua chin cui dau" (deep rivers run silently, ripe rice bows its head), which implies talented and experienced individuals remain humble. However, composer Chau Dang Khoa reinterpreted the idiom to express a spirit of resilience against adversity.
Many opinions suggested that the altered lyric lost its original humble meaning, instead conveying arrogance. On the afternoon of 28/4, Chau Dang Khoa announced that the controversial lyric would be changed to "dau bao giong kien cuong luon vung vang" (even amidst storms, resiliently standing firm) and thanked the audience for their feedback. At the concert, the two singers performed the revised lyrics.
The Central Propaganda and Mobilization Department directed the "Am Vang To Quoc" concert, with Vietnam Television, the People's Committee of Hanoi City, and related units coordinating its execution. The program gathered over 2,000 artists and performers, along with over 1,000 officials and soldiers from the people's armed forces. According to general director Nguyen Trung Dung, the concert's highlight was the fusion of a symphony orchestra with rock music, incorporating 3D mapping and live-action elements onto the stage.
