Born in 1993, Dao Huu Quy graduated from the University of Economics, Hue University. He worked as an accountant in TP HCM for 5 years before returning to Hue. With a passion for the culture, cuisine, and people of the ancient capital, he began creating content on TikTok. Initially, he showcased dishes linked to childhood memories, such as banh duc mat, banh loc chien, banh canh bot lon, and bun giam nuoc.
Later, he shifted to documenting traditional craft villages and cultural values that are gradually fading. These include Thanh Tien paper flowers, Mau Tai puffed rice village, Sinh village paintings, Trieu Son conical hat village, and Dia Linh village, which crafts Ong Cong and Ong Tao statues. He visits these locations, meets the artisans, observes, and directly participates in the production stages to better understand the effort, time, and challenges behind each product.
The ao dai has gradually become a familiar image in his videos. Quy explains that the traditional attire is one way to express Vietnamese identity when introducing Hue culture.
In the future, he aims to continue preserving traditional dishes, crafts, and cultural stories at risk of being forgotten. He also seeks to help viewers better understand the values that have been integral to the lives of Hue residents for generations.
