"Nguoi thay" is a musical piece Doan Trang dedicates to Professor Huynh The Cuoc, former Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology (HUFLIT). Professor Cuoc traveled to Long Khanh (Dong Nai) to speak with Doan Trang's family, hoping she would pursue postgraduate studies abroad and then return to work at the university. The musician stated that when he composed the song in 1998, he envisioned Doan Trang and Quoc Dai singing it, as they were prominent in student performing arts at the time. While waiting for someone to introduce the song to the two singers, he gave it to Cam Ly to perform. "I was surprised that after 27 years, this song is now performed by the voice I originally intended," he remarked.

Doan Trang, 47, is from Dong Nai. In 2001, she won second prize in the Ho Chi Minh City Television Singing Competition and pursued a professional singing career. She has many hit songs, including: "Forget me not" (Tran Thanh Tung), "Bang khuang", "Khi toi 20", "Toc hat", and "Socola" (Vo Thien Thanh). Sol is the first daughter of Doan Trang and her Swedish husband, Johan Wicklund.
