'Horse hooves on the border' honors border guards

The life of struggle and labor of soldiers is recreated through circus acts and dances in the "Horse Hooves on the Border" program.

The show, held on 24, 25, and 26/7 at the Central Circus Theater, is the 8th edition of the "Going with the Years" program. It commemorates the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (27/7/1947 - 27/7/2026). Over 90 minutes, a series of performances highlight the dedication of border guards in protecting national sovereignty.

The performance opens with "Border Afternoon", depicting soldiers alongside local people, working and building their lives. Emotions escalate during "Singing About You", which recreates fierce battles amidst artillery fire. A series of acts, including "I Sing for You, Border Guard Soldier" and "Highland Market", portray the simple lives of border soldiers. The "Horse Hooves on the Border" and "Horse Riding" acts demonstrate the resilience of those tasked with protecting national border security.

The audience consistently applauded the artists' display of techniques such as bouncing bridge, pole balancing, carpet spinning, and aerial rope work. During the "Highland Market" act, the Central Circus Theater echoed with cheers for tightrope balancing, acrobatics, and juggling. In "Comrades", performers showcased horizontal bar balancing, unicycling, and hula hooping.

Ethnic dances were interspersed among the circus techniques. In the "Border Afternoon" act, artists performed juggling, acrobatics, and male and female aerial rope acts, combined with dances to create a tranquil border scene.

People's Artist Tong Toan Thang, Director of the Vietnam Circus Federation, who also wrote the script and directed the art, stated that he was inspired to create the program after visiting the Thanh Thuy International Border Gate Border Post and the martyrs' memorial area at the Vi Xuyen front.

"We hope that after leaving the theater, viewers will not only be impressed by the beautiful, daring circus acts but also be inspired by the image of the soldiers and the bond between the military and people at the border", Tong Toan Thang said.
