He received his appointment decision at a ceremony held at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music on 25/7. The event was presided over by Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong. People's Artist Quoc Hung expressed gratitude to the board of directors, staff, lecturers, and students of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music for their warm welcome. Before this appointment, he served as director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
Dr. Do Quoc Hung, 56, was born in Dong Anh, Hanoi. He enrolled in the Hanoi Conservatory, the predecessor of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, in 1991. He progressed through intermediate, undergraduate, and postgraduate studies, successfully defending his doctoral thesis in music. He has dedicated more than 30 years to studying, teaching, and performing at what is considered the nation's largest music training institution.

He is one of Vietnam's leading bass singers and a student of People's Artist Tran Hieu. Quoc Hung won first prize at the national chamber music and opera competition in 2000 and received a gold cup at the Pyongyang Spring International Music Festival in 2004. He has performed multiple times in Germany, North Korea, and Russia. In 1998, after training and performing at the Hannover Opera House in Germany, he was invited to work there but chose to return to Vietnam to continue his teaching career.

Beyond performing, People's Artist Quoc Hung also engages in scientific research. He authored the book "Training Opera Singers in Vietnam", published from his doctoral thesis. His successful students include artists Hoang Tung, Truong Bac, singer Quang Ha, and singer-producer Nguyen Tran Trung Quan.
In 2019, the State bestowed upon him the title of People's Artist. In 2025, he performed the opening song for the 30/4 parade and march in Ho Chi Minh City. Earlier this year, he collaborated with artist Thu Hang to release the MV "Dat nuoc hom nay", an epic song about the homeland's development and rise, composed by musician Nguyen Thanh Trung.
