For decades, Jet Li was rumored to have "neglected" his daughters, Li Si and Li Taimi. He stated that right after their marriage, Nina Li Chi offered to send money for their education on his behalf. At that time, the two children were cared for by their mother and Jet Li's siblings.

According to Jet Li, Nina Li Chi regularly sent money to his daughters, enough for them to live comfortably their entire lives, even without working. Nina Li Chi once bought homes in the US and China for the two girls. Upon reaching adulthood, Li Si and Li Taimi started working and became self-sufficient, proactively telling Nina Li Chi that they no longer needed additional financial support. "Our children said that our well-being and health are enough. They even told their aunt (Nina Li Chi) to focus on caring for their birth mother, as they no longer need money," Jet Li stated.
