In late February, Khanh Ly returned from the US for a series of activities commemorating the 25th anniversary of musician Trinh Cong Son's passing. She also launched her first career memoir, "Hat Cung Nguon Coi" (Singing with the Roots). During her free time, Khanh Ly and writer Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc visited the Statue of Our Lady of Peace at Notre Dame Cathedral, explored Nguyen Van Binh book street, and various central Ho Chi Minh City streets.
The singer, whose real name is Nguyen Thi Le Mai, is 81 years old. She first appeared on stage in 1959 and became a professional singer in 1962 at the age of 17. Khanh Ly first met Trinh Cong Son in 1964 while performing in Da Lat. In 1967, they reconnected in Sai Gon. This marked the beginning of one of the most celebrated artistic collaborations in Vietnamese music history.
After 1975, Khanh Ly and her family relocated to the US. In late September 2012, she returned to Vietnam to perform. In 2022, the iconic singer embarked on her farewell tour, "Nhu Mot Loi Chia Tay" (Like a Farewell), with a series of concerts in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Lat, Nha Trang, Ha Noi, and Da Nang.
