Khanh Thi, Phan Hien portray love in Le Quyen's MV

Dancesport artists Khanh Thi and Phan Hien, a married couple, perform a dance about tumultuous love in Le Quyen's MV "Gia nhu anh la em".

Le Quyen's MV "Gia nhu anh la em", released on 8/8.

Le Quyen stated that she initially planned to release the song as an audio track. However, one rainy night, while returning from a recording session, she and her boyfriend Lam Bao Chau listened to the song in the car and conceived the idea to film an MV.

The singer wanted a dance in the MV to portray a sad love story, so she invited Khanh Thi and her husband. Initially, Khanh Thi declined, but after listening to the song, she felt a strong emotional connection and decided to participate.

Within a few hours, Khanh Thi and Phan Hien conceptualized the choreography. Accustomed to dancing in shoes on stage, this time they performed barefoot on a water-filled floor beneath artificial rain. According to Khanh Thi, the most challenging aspects were the spins and lifts, with each scene filmed only once because their wet costumes would not dry in time for multiple takes.

Le Quyen expressed her appreciation for the affection and support from her two close friends. "For me, their dance in the MV is invaluable because it significantly enhances the emotional depth", the singer stated.

"Gia nhu anh la em" was composed by musician Hung Quan, arranged by Vinh Tam, and produced by Le Quang. The musical piece portrays a woman's journey through various emotional stages of love, ultimately choosing to let go. Le Quyen also invited singer Minh Quan to harmonize in the latter part, creating a contrasting element for the MV.

In addition to contributing ideas and the script, Lam Bao Chau served as associate director for his girlfriend's project. He opted for a minimalist production, featuring a single setting of water.

Le Quyen, 45, originally from Hanoi, is the youngest child in a family with an artistic tradition; both her parents were cheo (traditional Vietnamese opera) artists. She began her career in the late 1990s, honing her skills through tea room performances in Hanoi before moving to TP HCM to establish her career. In 2004, she released the album "Giac mo co that", featuring many hit songs such as "Hay tra loi em" (by Tuan Nghia) and "Thoi dung chiem bao" (by Tuong Van). Since 2010, Le Quyen has pursued traditional music, achieving success with the release of a series of albums titled "Khuc tinh xua". In 2019 and 2021, she successively held large-scale live shows for thousands of audience members, including Q Show 2 and Le Quyen ft Nguoi Tinh.
