During the launch of her music video "Gia nhu anh la em" (If You Were Me), Le Quyen discussed her views on love at age 45. She expressed her fondness for the song from the moment she heard the demo sent by musician Hung Quan, finding it deeply resonant. The song's lyrics describe a woman navigating an incomplete love story, choosing to face it with strength. "The song also reflects my feelings after a low point in the past," she shared.
Le Quyen drew upon her personal experiences in love to infuse emotion into the music video's filming. She married in 2010, divorcing after ten years. Following their separation, Le Quyen and her former husband remain in contact, co-parenting and educating their son, Ky Anh, who is currently 15 years old.
According to the singer, women often suffer heartbreak, but each finds their unique way to overcome it. Le Quyen chooses acceptance, viewing it as destiny. "In relationships, I never have regrets or feel remorse. Once you choose and experience love at a certain stage of life, whether it's complete or unfinished, it remains beautiful and worth cherishing," she stated.
Over the past six years, Le Quyen has found renewed vitality alongside actor Lam Bao Chau. They support, encourage, and respect each other's work. The singer considers him her life partner, without the need for a wedding. For her new project, Bao Chau was responsible for the concept and script of the music video. On set, Le Quyen caught a cold after standing in water for several days. He stayed close, reminding her to keep warm and eat on time to recover quickly, ensuring her upcoming US tour schedule.
Le Quyen maintains a calm demeanor, avoiding competition with colleagues or feeling pressured to prove herself after nearly 30 years in the industry. After each project, she often takes a quiet moment to recharge. Previously, upon re-listening to her songs, Le Quyen often felt regret, believing she could have performed them better. Now, the singer prioritizes genuine emotion over technical perfection.
"Sometimes my singing is clumsy or naive, but it often connects with fans more easily than overly precise delivery," she explained. Consequently, in "Gia nhu anh la em," Le Quyen opted for a relaxed, gentle vocal style, as if whispering to the listener.
Le Quyen, a native of Ha Noi, is the youngest of a family with a strong artistic tradition; both her parents were cheo (traditional Vietnamese opera) artists. She began her career in the late 1990s, honing her skills through performances in Ha Noi tea rooms before moving to TP HCM to establish her career. In 2004, she released the album "Giac mo co that" (A Real Dream), featuring hits such as "Hay tra loi em" (Please Answer Me) by Tuan Nghia and "Thoi dung chiem bao" (Stop Dreaming) by Tuong Van. From 2010, Le Quyen embraced traditional Vietnamese music, achieving success with a series of albums titled "Khuc tinh xua" (Old Love Songs). In 2019 and 2021, she organized large-scale live shows for thousands of audience members, including Q Show 2 and Le Quyen ft Nguoi Tinh.
