The lead actor of the historical drama revealed he sustained an injury while filming an action sequence for his character, the warrior Nguyen Phong, earlier this year. After 10 trial takes, he landed incorrectly on the 11th attempt. Initially, he and the crew thought it was just a muscle strain. However, a hospital examination diagnosed him with a torn ligament and two torn menisci.

Facing the accident for the first time, Tuan Tran expressed concern about delaying the film's schedule. Thanks to director Nguyen Phan Quang Binh and the crew's encouragement and on-set support, he completed the filming schedule on time. Action director Johnny Tri Nguyen choreographed a new fight sequence adapted to the actor's physical condition.

In the film, Tuan Tran portrays Nguyen Phong, a common warrior from a hunter background, raised from childhood by a Muong shaman (artist Tu Long). Highly skilled in martial arts, he chose a reclusive life to avoid societal constraints. When the nation's fate is imperiled, Nguyen Phong decides to reveal himself. The director stated he cast Tuan Tran as the lead, praising his ability to effectively portray characters with depth.

The 34-year-old actor began his career as a model before transitioning into film. His role as Quan, Ba Sang's son in Tran Thanh's "Bo gia" (2021), earned him the Best Lead Actor award at the 22nd Vietnam Film Festival. In early 2024, "Mai" made Tuan Tran the first domestic actor to have a cumulative box office revenue exceeding 1 trillion dong. "Mang me di bo", a film he starred in with artist Hong Dao in august 2025, also achieved high revenue, surpassing 170 billion dong.

The concept for "Ho linh trang si: Bi an mo vua Dinh" was developed by Nguyen Phan Quang Binh over 10 years, after hearing a story from a boatman in Ninh Binh. The film is a historical fantasy, beginning with the assassination of King Dinh Tien Hoang.

Seven warriors are entrusted with a mission to race against time and confront hostile forces. Their task is to transport 100 coffins of the king in seven directions, aiming to deceive enemies seeking to desecrate the royal tomb.

The film crew cast actors in TP HCM and Hanoi starting mid-may 2025, with filming lasting three months. In addition to the two lead actors, Tuan Tran and Thien Tu (who previously starred in "Ao lua Ha Dong"), the film features supporting characters such as Tu Long as the shaman, Do Thi Hai Yen as the empress, Hua Vi Van as the mandarin, Johnny Tri Nguyen as Huu General, and Quach Ngoc Ngoan as Ta General. Musician Quoc Trung is responsible for the score, while Nguyen K'Linh, the cinematographer for "Dia dao", serves as the director of photography (D.O.P).
