The US segment of the opening ceremonies also featured a performance by Tyla and Future. The US host nation's opening ceremony was a brief 16-minute event. While Lisa's and Tyla's performances were highlights, the overall program did not leave a strong impression. Pop star Katy Perry, who was announced by FIFA, did not appear in the initial segment. Fans speculated she might perform during halftime of the match between the US team and Paraguay.
This year's World Cup is notable for being the first to feature three distinct opening ceremonies, hosted by the three co-host nations. Hours before the US event, Michael Buble, Elyanna, Jessie Reyez, Nora Fatehi, Sanjoy, Vegedream, and Alessia Cara performed at the ceremony in Canada. On 11/6, Shakira, Burna Boy, and J Balvin appeared at the opening event in Mexico.
