David Beckham, 51, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a ceremony held in Los Angeles on 12/6. The event honored his significant contributions to elevating the status of football in the US and celebrated his lasting influence on global sports, entertainment, and culture, according to Independent.

His wife, designer Victoria, and three children – Romeo, 24, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 15 – attended the ceremony to celebrate with him. Eldest son Brooklyn, 27, was notably absent due to a conflict with his parents. Actor Tom Cruise, a longtime friend, also joined the festivities.

In his speech, David Beckham expressed that while he has always been a dreamer, he never imagined "an English footballer from a working-class background" could receive such a prestigious honor. "I've had some incredible moments in my career, but to be here in Los Angeles receiving a star on the world-famous Walk of Fame is unbelievable," he stated.

Beckham extended his gratitude to his family, including his parents, older sister Sandra, and younger sister Joanne, for their unwavering support. He specifically thanked Victoria, calling her "an amazing wife who has been by my side for nearly 30 years" and crediting her for all his achievements. He also spoke about his children, saying they are his reason for waking up every morning. Ultimately, Beckham considered his "greatest achievement" to be making his children proud, expressing hope that one day they would bring his grandchildren to the site to tell them about "a boy with big dreams."

During his address, David Beckham also acknowledged Tom Cruise, referring to him as "the greatest movie star of our time." He expressed gratitude for their friendship, recalling how Tom Cruise welcomed his family when they first arrived in the US 20 years ago. For Beckham, the actor has consistently been a loyal friend and an inspiration. Beckham further revealed that the 1996 romantic comedy "Jerry Maguire", starring Cruise, was the first movie he and his wife watched together.

Earlier at the event, the "Top Gun" star praised Beckham's football career spanning over two decades, asserting that "no one deserves this more" than Beckham.

On stage, designer Victoria described her husband as a kind person, dedicated to those he loves. "David, I am so proud of everything you have achieved today. But what makes me even prouder is that you are always a good husband, a good father, and simply yourself," she remarked.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a sidewalk along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street in Los Angeles, California, US. It features over 2,000 stars honoring famous individuals for their contributions to the entertainment industry, as recognized by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

Born in 1975, David Beckham holds the distinction of being the first English player to win national championships in four different countries: England, Spain, the US, and France. During his 20-year professional career, he played for several top clubs worldwide, including Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, LA Galaxy, and Paris Saint-Germain. Beckham captained the England national team for six years before retiring in 2013.

After retiring from football, Beckham built a career in business and media, collaborating with many major brands. In 2018, he became co-owner of Inter Miami CF in the US Major League Soccer (MLS). Under his management, the team signed Lionel Messi in 2023 and won the MLS Cup in 2025.

In 2019, Beckham founded Studio 99, a company specializing in producing documentary content and television programs for global platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video. Notable projects include the Emmy-winning documentaries "Beckham", "Victoria Beckham", "99", and "Ronnie O'Sullivan: The Edge of Everything". Studio 99 also produces advertising content for various international brands.

In 2022, Beckham signed a strategic partnership agreement with Authentic Brands Group, becoming a co-owner and shareholder of the world's largest sports and entertainment brand management group. He joined a roster of famous names represented by the group, including Muhammad Ali, Shaquille O'Neal, Kevin Hart, and Sports Illustrated. In May, his family's assets surpassed one billion pounds, thanks to profits from his projects and the Victoria Beckham fashion brand.

Beyond his sports and business careers, Beckham is known for his extensive philanthropic work. He has been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for over two decades and founded the 7 Fund to support disadvantaged children worldwide.
