According to Hollywood Reporter, his representative announced that the singer passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones in Marietta, Georgia, at 5 p.m. on 2/6 (local time). He died three days after suffering a stroke. In 2019, he had experienced a serious heart attack but made a full recovery.

Peabo Bryson was born in 1951 in South California, starting his music career after graduating high school. In the late 1960s, he toured with singer Moses Dillard. In 1976, the renowned singer released his debut album, 'Peabo', signing with Capitol Records a year later. In a 1978 interview with Soul magazine, he revealed a passion for music from an early age, having considered becoming a doctor or pursuing other professions, but ultimately chose singing.

In 1984, he moved to Elektra Records, singing the theme song for the television series 'One Life to Live' before returning to Capitol. Throughout his career, he released about 20 albums featuring many popular romantic ballads, especially duets.
In 2015, Peabo Bryson told Tatler Asia that the secret to effective collaboration is 'to have a little affection for the person you're singing with.' Speaking with CBC in 2017, Bryson recounted recording with Celine Dion in 1991 when she was a young singer. According to the renowned singer, Dion was initially very shy, but the two gradually developed chemistry in the studio.

To date, he received eight Academy Award nominations and won two Oscars. In 1993 and 1994, he consecutively won the Grammy Award for best pop performance by a duo or group with vocals for 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'A Whole New World'. The Aladdin soundtrack song was also the first from an animated film to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Regarding his personal life, the singer married Tanya Boniface in 2010. He had two children: a daughter with a former partner, and a son born in 2018. His eldest child is currently 58 years old and has three children.
