Styling ideas for the 'ugly shoe' trend

By simply adding high socks, you can elevate your look when wearing Crocs and back-strap sandals—the currently popular 'ugly shoe' trend.

The easiest way to style is tonally. Add socks matching the color of your chunky sandals, paired with a mini skirt or denim shorts, a polo shirt or t-shirt, or a crop top to convey an energetic look.

The "ugly shoe" trend is popular in Vietnam and worldwide. These designs feature a bulky, thick-soled aesthetic, offering comfort and versatility. Their convenience makes them a common choice for office workers, students, and celebrities.

To find a suitable styling approach, consider the design's characteristics and color. For spiky Crocs, which have a cool vibe, opt for neutral-colored clothing that shares this characteristic, such as uniquely patterned pants, batwing or off-the-shoulder tops, or oversized shirts.

Oversized Crocs can be paired with gothic, punk styles, or the skirt-over-pants trend from the 1990s.

For suede Birkenstock clogs, add white socks, paired with a mini skirt, a denim jacket, or jeans and a Harrington jacket.

If you prefer 1980s-style plastic back-strap sandals, use matching or contrasting socks, paired with a blazer, a midi dress, or a maxi dress.

This sandal style can also be paired with bermuda shorts, a knit cardigan, or a leather jacket.

Chunky "dad" sneakers often feature elaborate details, creating a cool look. To highlight the shoes, choose a simple hoodie and wide-leg jeans.

"Ugly sneakers" can also be combined with mini or midi skirts, a racing jacket, or a sports jacket to project a strong image.

Oversized furry shoes are inherently striking, so simply wear plain attire such as a t-shirt, jeans, a plain turtleneck sweater, paired with a split denim skirt or leggings.

Additionally, for school, you can choose wide-leg jeans and a stylish sweater to wear with these shoes.

Sheepskin Ugg boots are excellent for warmth. A stylish way to wear them is with flared jeans, a leather jacket, and a matching furry hat.

Many items pair well with Ugg boots, such as tracksuits, wool shorts, leggings, short velvet skirts, a sheepskin jacket, or a hoodie.
