Premiering after Tet Binh Ngo, the work is a romantic drama combined with music, directed and written by Chung Chi Cong. The script delves into Mong Hoai's (Kim Khanh) journey through life's "stations" and her efforts to fulfill her unfinished dreams.
The film opens with Mong Hoai choosing motherhood, unable to complete her childhood dream. The narrative then transports audiences back to her early years, revealing her passion for acting. The arrival of Minh Hieu (Doan Hoang) becomes a catalyst, igniting Mong Hoai's aspirations.
Like many young people, Mong Hoai navigates her student years and enters the workforce after graduation. While her friends mature, the "child" within her persists, awaiting its awakening.

Through a musical storytelling approach, Chung Chi Cong portrays Mong Hoai as free-spirited, pure-hearted, dedicated to her dreams, and unafraid of failure. This character also carries a special mission, unknown even to herself: to awaken other "children" who have fallen asleep.
The director states that he intentionally separated the female protagonist from the path of "selling oneself to capitalism", a choice many young people make. "Ultimately, Mong Hoai may not become the star of any film, but she successfully inspires others, encouraging them to act", the director shares.
Specifically, through musical pieces produced by music director Pham Hai Au, Mong Hoai reminds herself and others of forgotten dreams. She makes Minh Hieu realize he can earn substantial money, but dreams are invaluable. The protagonist also helps Khang (Nguyen Hung) understand a profound truth: pursuing one's passion to the very end is not a mistake.
According to the production team, these "children" eventually awaken and, in turn, influence Mong Hoai, bringing her closer to her childhood passion. In every performance, Mong Hoai is elevated by her colleagues, symbolizing the support she receives to soar high and far.

The crew also emphasizes family bonds, friendship, and love. Meritorious Artist Huu Chau moves audiences with his portrayal of a deaf and mute father who is devoted, optimistic, and gently guides his daughter. According to director Chi Cong, this character serves as a foundation for Mong Hoai to pursue her dreams, transmitting positive values to future generations.
"Family love in the film represents sacrifice and selflessness, and it is how the older generation creates space for the younger generation to decide their own lives", the director explains.

Upon leaving her home to venture into the world, Mong Hoai encounters many kind, endearing people, reflecting the way her father raised her. From the "beautiful ladies" group to Khang's film crew, especially Minh Hieu, each character contributes to Mong Hoai's personal growth and career success.
Chung Chi Cong likens the film to a love letter he sent to himself and to young people. "Mong Hoai is somewhat dreamy, emotional, even stubborn in her thinking. Yet, among the 1,000 people struggling with bills, there needs to be at least someone like Mong Hoai – a messenger to remind you that you were born to immerse yourself in life and do what makes you happiest", the director adds.
In addition to the main cast, the film features Nguyen Hung, Thieu Lan, Thao Tam, Cong Duong, and others.
"Thank You for Waking Up With Me" is currently showing in cinemas nationwide.
