On Truth Social on 25/8, Donald Trump posted a condolence message to the family and fans of acclaimed singer Dolly Parton following news of her passing due to cancer.

In the post, President Trump honored the artist as one of the greatest country voices of all time, stating her death was "a loss felt by millions." "Rest in peace, Dolly. The whole world loves you," Trump wrote.

According to the US government website, President Trump ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff at the White House and on all public buildings, grounds, military posts, naval stations, and naval vessels across the United States and its territories from 18h local time on 25/8 until sunset on 1/9. This decision also applies to all US embassies, diplomatic missions, consular offices, and other US facilities abroad.

Beyond President Trump, many members of the Republican and Democratic parties also expressed their sorrow for Dolly Parton, honoring her musical legacy and philanthropic work, according to Politico.

On X, former President Barack Obama stated that few individuals had as significant an impact as Dolly Parton, recalling her achievements from the arts to philanthropy. However, he noted that merely listing these accomplishments was insufficient, as she also played a role in accelerating Covid-19 vaccine research for Moderna with a 1 million USD donation in 2020.

On Instagram, rapper Eminem reposted a letter Dolly Parton sent congratulating him on his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. The artist noted that while he never had the chance to meet Dolly in person, the letter left a deep impression on him. "Even for a kid who primarily listened to rap music like me, she was still an icon. A true superstar. Rest in peace, Dolly. Thank you for your kind words," Eminem wrote.
