Chinese media reported on October 11 that the account "Tu Hao (2,2-meter-tall girlfriend)" posted an obituary confirming Tieu Nguyet's death in the early hours of that day. Tu Hao, Tieu Nguyet's partner, stated that the funeral was held simply, without a memorial service. He expressed his sorrow for the pain Tieu Nguyet endured and prayed for her peace. This news surprised many fans.
Tieu Nguyet and Tu Hao were independent content creators. Tieu Nguyet's channel attracted 84,000 followers, while Tu Hao's had 139,000. Tieu Nguyet's remarkable height of 2,2 meters compared to Tu Hao's 1,68 meters helped the couple become a social media phenomenon.
Tu Hao recounted that when they first created their account, many people believed their story was staged. The couple had been together for four years in Chongqing, jointly operating social media accounts to document their daily lives. They registered their marriage in 2025 and announced the birth of their first son in October of the same year.

In July, Tu Hao shared a video revealing that Tieu Nguyet had been diagnosed with a pituitary tumor and a meningioma during a health check-up. Subsequently, she was diagnosed with a series of severe complications, including blood sugar levels fluctuating between 20 and 33 mmol/L, along with kidney failure.
Tu Hao explained that Tieu Nguyet suffered from pituitary gigantism, secondary diabetes, and several other medical conditions. He brought her back to her hometown for treatment, planning surgery once her blood sugar levels stabilized. However, her health deteriorated suddenly, leading to her death.
According to Tu Hao, doctors had previously explained that the disease was not overly complex, requiring only minimally invasive endoscopic surgery to remove the brain tumor. He never imagined that this illness would take Tieu Nguyet's life and only hoped her blood sugar would quickly decrease for the surgery.
Medical literature indicates that pituitary gigantism arises when the anterior pituitary lobe secretes an excessive amount of growth hormone (GH). If the disease begins before the epiphyseal plates (bone growth plates) close during puberty, it leads to gigantism, causing the body to grow beyond normal limits. If it appears after puberty, when the epiphyseal plates have closed, the disease manifests as acromegaly (abnormally enlarged limbs, head, and face). A few cases begin during puberty and continue into adulthood, then developing into gigantism.
In its initial stage, the patient's entire skeletal system and internal organs increase in size, accompanied by an overactive pituitary gland. In the later stages, the patient's physical strength continuously declines.
