On 5/5, a representative from Children's Hospital 1 stated that the child was suffering from respiratory failure, with numerous bruises and abrasions across his body. Doctors diagnosed the boy with multiple injuries, a ruptured spleen, a liver contusion, a pancreatic rupture, and acute kidney damage.
The boy's body also showed an old fracture in his left forearm, chronic anemia, and a blood clotting disorder. He is now out of critical condition, but his state remains serious and he continues to be closely monitored.
On the same day, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency promptly arrested Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc, 34, the boy's biological mother, and her partner Danh Chon, 30. They are being investigated for intentional infliction of injury.

Three days prior, residents in Phu Lam hamlet, Hoa Hiep commune, reported a woman repeatedly beating her young child in a rented room. When authorities arrived, the boy was disoriented, slow to react, and had a laceration on his head along with many injuries on his body.
Initial verification confirmed the boy is Truc's biological son. The mother lived with Danh Chon as a couple. The two admitted to repeatedly beating the boy with a bamboo stick. Residents stated they had heard crying but did not realize the severity of the situation. On 2/5, the boy was repeatedly hit on his legs, back, and head but was not taken for emergency treatment.
The Ho Chi Minh City Police Board of Directors directed the Criminal Police Department to coordinate with local police to strengthen evidence for severe prosecution.
