Coffee
Regular coffee drinkers have a lower risk of cirrhosis and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The antioxidants in coffee, especially chlorogenic acid, help reduce inflammation and prevent fat accumulation. Drinking 2-3 cups of coffee per day is appropriate. Black coffee is preferred, without added sugar, cream, or syrup.
Turmeric milk
Curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, can reduce fatty liver, lower liver enzymes, and improve insulin sensitivity. Heat a cup of milk with no or little sugar, add half a teaspoon of turmeric, a pinch of black pepper (to increase absorption), and drink it before bed to boost liver health.
Green tea
Green tea is rich in catechins, which can reduce inflammation and liver fat in people with NAFLD. This beverage also improves mood, reduces stress, and helps fight age-related cognitive decline and neurodegenerative diseases. Drinking 2-3 cups of tea daily can offer various health benefits.
Beet juice
Beet juice contains betalains, antioxidants with liver-supporting and anti-inflammatory properties. It also increases bile flow, which is important for digestion and the elimination of fatty toxins. Juice one beet with a carrot or half an apple to sweeten the drink.
Lemon water
Starting the day with warm lemon water offers several advantages. This drink stimulates liver enzymes, promotes detoxification, and provides a quick dose of vitamin C. Squeeze half a lemon into warm water and add a pinch of pink salt or a drop of honey if desired.
Aloe vera juice
Aloe vera is often used to treat sunburns and for skincare. It can also reduce liver inflammation, regulate blood sugar levels (closely related to fatty liver), and improve gut health. Dilute 1-2 tablespoons of aloe vera juice with a glass of water and drink it mid-morning or before a meal.
Apple cider vinegar water
Apple cider vinegar can also benefit people with fatty liver disease by improving insulin sensitivity and promoting fat breakdown. Drinking apple cider vinegar also lowers total cholesterol in the blood.
Coconut water
Coconut water supports liver recovery by hydrating the body, reducing oxidative stress, and balancing electrolytes. Natural coconut water is low in calories and sugar. Drink a glass daily after exercise to cool down the liver. Avoid bottled varieties with added additives or sweeteners.
In addition to regularly consuming these beverages, individuals should reduce their intake of sugar, alcohol, processed foods, and saturated fats.
